Drozda named CSAC Rookie of the Year; six Giants earn All Conference nods
La Plume, PA (11-2-09) - The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced that Keystone College's Kelsey Drozda has been named as the Field Hockey Rookie of the Year in the CSAC.

In addition to Drozda's honor, Keystone placed five others on the All Conference team with Nicole Macedonio picking up a First Team selection, Samantha Morgan and Whitney Hubshman earning Second Team nods and Melinda Moore, Kellina Yarrish and Drozda earning Honorable Mention recognition.  Lori-Ann Marino was Keystone's CSAC Sportsmanship Award Recipient.

Drozda, a freshman from Wilkes-Barre, PA and graduate of G.A.R. High School, ended regular season play with five goals on 37 shots, including one game winner.  She also chipped in with two assists.

Macedonio, a senior from Factoryville, PA and graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School, ended regular season play with a team leading nine goals on 36 shots.  Macedonio, a midfielder, also added five assists to tally a team best 23 points.  Her four game winning goals tied her for the team high with Brackney Brotzman.  

Morgan, a sophomore from Clarks Summit, PA and graduate of Abington Heights, ended the regular season with a team high and conference best 10 assists.  Morgan's assist per game average is the 13th best mark in the nation.  The forward also tallied two goals, including one game winner in 16 starts.

Hubshman, a senior from Clarks Summit, PA and graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School, ended the regular season with six assists.  The back started in all 16 games for the Giants.  

Moore, a junior From Norwich, NY and graduate of Norwich High School, ended the regular season as one of the top net minders in the nation.  Currently ranked 17th in the nation in goals against, she allowed just 19 goals in 16 games.  Moore recorded a conference best seven shutouts as part of her 67 save season.

Yarrish, a senior from Honesdale, PA and graduate of Honesdale Area High School, tied for second on the team with seven goals.  Yarrish also chipped in with three assists and two game winning goals in 16 starts this season.

Marino, a sophomore from Hawley, PA and graduate of Wallenpaupack Area, was Keystone's recipient of the CSAC Sportsmanship Award as the player who best demonstrated the positive qualities of a student-athlete.
