Keystone announces October athletes of the month

La Plume, PA (11-4-09) - The Keystone College athletic department has announced that Melinda Moore and Scott Bensinger have been named the Keystone College female and male athletes of the month for October.
Moore, a junior from Norwich, NY and graduate of Norwich High School, is a member of the field hockey team. The Keystone keeper helped lead the Giants to an 8-0 record during October, recording three shutouts in the process. Currently in the midst of an 11-game winning streak that dates back to September, Moore has allowed only seven goals over that span while facing 114 shots. Her 1.47gaa ranks her 17th in the nation in NCAA division III. Two of October’s victories were overtime affairs, with one match ending in double overtime. Her top save total of the month was a 10 save effort against The University of Scranton.
Bensinger, a junior from Hegins, PA and graduate of Tri-Valley High School, is a member of the men's
soccer team. Bensinger totaled three goals and an assist during the month to tie for the team high in goals for the month. His best effort came in a two goal performance at Immaculata. He also finished the season tied for the team high in goals scored with six.
The Keystone College Athlete of the Month program honors male and female student-athletes each month from September through April. All monthly recipients are eligible for the Keystone College male and female Athlete of the Year honor which will be awarded at the department's annual year-end athletic banquet.
