Centenary takes overtime decision
La Plume, PA (1-21-10) – Centenary College outscored Keystone 11-1 in overtime as the Cyclones came away with the 88-78 victory in CSAC women’s basketball action.

With the victory Centenary moves to 8-6 overall and 6-1 in the CSAC, while Keystone falls to 3-11 and 1-6.

The Giants battled the Cyclones on both ends of the floor as Keystone shot 40.8% from the field, while controlling the glass with a 50-41 advantage. However, Centenary made 40 trips to free throw line, converting 27, while the Giants managed to hit on just 13 of 26 tries.

With the Cyclones up 11 at 63-52 with 13:11 to play, the Giants began to claw back into the game, drawing to within a point at 67-66 with 5:31 to play.

Keystone would finally draw even when Ellen Fallon connected from downtown to knot things at 73 with 2:35 to play. After the Cyclones went back on top by two, Jazmine Harris’ jumper drew the teams even once again with just over a minute left to play.

With 21 seconds to play Centenary’s Kristen Camuso converted two free throws to put the Cyclones up 77-75. After a pair of missed Keystone free throws with 10 seconds left, Harris gathered up the loose ball for the Giants and converted a layup with six seconds to play to force overtime.

In the extra period it was all Cyclones as Centenary hit on four of five attempts from the field, while the Giants missed all nine of their attempts.

Fallon led four Keystone players in double digits with a 26-point night. Fallon capped off her double-double with 10 rebounds to go along with four steals and three assists.

Harris hit for a career high 17 points, while pulling in eight rebounds. Sarah Barreto added 11 and Yasmeen Bates 10 points. Bates also recorded a double-double with 14 rebounds.

Melinda Moore chipped in with an eight point and eight rebound night.

Jen Vasta netted a game high 31 points on 13-19 shooting to lead the Cyclones, one of four Centenary players in double figures. Marissa DiStasio pulled in a game high 17 rebounds in the winning effort.

Keystone will return to action on Saturday at 1pm when they travel to Baptist Bible College.
