Keystone athletic programs set to host summer camps

La Plume, PA (6-2-10) - Area youth will have their fill of activities this summer, as a trio of athletic programs from Keystone College will be conducting summer camps.

The opportunity to enhance ones skills will be available on the basketball court, field hockey field and the baseball diamond.

Three separate basketball camps will be held, with a Boy's Team Camp kicking things off from June 26-26.  A day camp is next on the basketball schedule from July 19-22 with a shotting camp scheduled for August 7-8.  

A field hockey camp will be conducted from June 21-24, with a field hockey 'Boot Camp' slated for August 2-5.  

For those looking to improve their skills on the diamond, four different opportunities exist beginning with a camp from June 21-24.  Other dates include: June 28 - July 1, July 12-15 and July 19-22.


About the basketball camps:


Team Camp
A great opportunity for both varsity and junior varsity boys' basketball teams to compete against other high schools in a great weekend at a college venue. Teams can play one or two days of the weekend against competition from outside the local area.

Day Camp
This camp features skill development, 5-on-5 league play, free throw shooting, contests, and individualized instructional sessions for boys 7-18. Teams are formed according to age and ability.

Shooting Camp
Boys and girls ages 7-18 are invited. The staff for the clinic will include the Head Basketball Coach at Keystone College, Jason Leone, and his staff and players. We will give each camper from beginner to advanced player a complete breakdown of their individual shot. Includes videotaping of shot for each player, printed drills and warm-ups for shooting, instruction, and each player will get approximately 1,000 shots at this clinic.

About the field hockey camps:

The Keystone College field hockey program will be holding a pair of camps this summer. The first is slated for June 21-24 on Boehm Field on Keystone's campus. The camp is targeted for kids who will be entering grades four through eight in the Fall. The camp offers instruction from Keystone College Field Hockey coaches as well as college field hockey players from Keystone and other institutions.

The second camp of the summer will be a 'Field Hockey Boot Camp' from August 2-5. The camps will offer a high energy approach to field hockey skills training and conditioning for the high school field hockey player. The goal of the camp is to start to prepare athletes for their upcoming seasons and develop the skills they have while adding some new ones to their repertoire.

About the baseball camps:

The Keystone College baseball program will be conducting four different sessions of their skills camp this summer. The comprehensive skills camp is an all around instructional camp. Fundamental skills related to pitching, catching, infield, outfield, hitting and base running will be the main focus of the camp.

The first set camp will held from June 21-24, with additional camps scheduled for June 28 - July 1; July 12-15 and July 19-22. The camp coaching staff will include members of the Giants coaching staff and current players. A responsible coach to camper ratio will be maintained at all times to insure safety and the highest quality of instruction possible.
