M. Lamin Sarr is honored for his excellence as a member of Keystone Junior College’s men’s soccer team along with outstanding achievements both on and off the field after his time with the Giants.
A two-year standout forward at Keystone, Lamin scored 31 goals for his career, the second most in the program’s history at the time. He also finished his career for the Giants with the second most total points in a career.
After scoring 11 goals in the 1971 campaign, Lamin broke out with a season for the ages in 1972 that was capped with an NJCAA All-Region XIX selection. That year he finished second in the region with 20 goals which also was the second most in Keystone history. Lamin also posted the second-most points in a single season the year for the Giants while leading the squad to an 8-3 record and an appearance in the NJCAA Region XIX Tournament.
Following his time at Keystone, Lamin continued his playing career at Brown University where he led the Bears to NCAA Division I national championship game in 1973. Lamin earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University and conducted post-graduate studies at the Wood Holes Oceanographic Institution and the School for Marine Studies, College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at the University of Washington.
Lamin is the founder and president of Sarr Consulting Group, LLC, with which he has had clients including the United Nations, the Clinton Foundation’s HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the State of Rhode Island.
Lamin is also the founder of the African Alliance of Rhode Island and he has also worked as the deputy executive director for the International Institute of Rhode Island. Lamin is a member of the Board of Directors for the Foundations for West Africa, serving as the vice-president and secretary for the foundation.
