Keystone opens season with win

La Plume, PA (11-15-08) - Jessica Kobesky and Yasmeen Bates each netted 16 points as the Giants cruised to an 80-31 season opening win over Penn State Hazleton

The victory also marked the head coaching debut for Giants' caoch Jessica Bogia.

Keystone took control of the game from the onset racing out to a 41-10 lead at the break, as Penn State shot just 13% from the field.

Ellen Fallon came within an assist of a triple-double as the sophomore put together a 12-point, 11-steal and nine assist afternoon.  Fallen's 11 assists tied her with Jaia Gandy for the second most in a game by a Keystone player in program history. 

The Giants' 26 steals were also the third best performance by a Keystone team.

Kobesky also recorded a double-double on the day by adding 11 rebounds.

Leah Simko added 14 points  to round out Keystone's double digit efforts.

Keystone pulled in 56 rebounds on the afternoon, with Melinda Moore adding nine, Bates eight and Kelly Iovieno seven.

The Giants return to action on Tuesday November 18 when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a 6pm tip.
