Keystone notches home opener

La Plume, PA (12-4-08) - Keystone College placed three players in double figures as the Giants took their home opener over Centenary College, 72-65.

With the win the Giants move to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the CSAC, while Centenary falls to 4-3 and 0-2.

The Giants survived a monster night by the Centenary duo of Andrew Baker and Ryan Kearney, as the pair combined for 50 of their team's 65 points.  Baker was 10-16 from the field, with a 10-14 effort from the charity stripe.  Kearney used four three-pointers en route to his 20 point night.  He also picked up a double-double by adding 10 rebounds.

Keystone withstood a slow start and a three point deficit at the half to put up 48 second half points en route to the win.

Spencer Lunger (Lake Winola, PA/Tunkhannock) led the way for Keystone with 22 points, including a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.  Tercel Taylor (Jackson, MI/Jackson) added 21 points, while Michael Kelly (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) chipped in 13 and a 4-4 effort from the line.

Ryne Luce (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) dished out a team high six assists with Taylor adding five and five steals.

After shooting only 27% in the first half, Keystone nearly doubled their accuracy by shooting 51.7% in the second half.

Kenneth Hardnett (Plant City, FL/Plant City) led the Giants on the boards with six rebounds, while Kelly, Ryne Luce (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) and Malcolm Boone (Sugar Loaf, NY/Warwick) each added five.

Keystone does not return to the floor until Saturday January 3 when they play host to Hunter College in a 3pm contest.
