Men's basketball program nets 1,000th victory

Clarks Summit, PA (1-17-09) - Michael Kelly (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) recorded a double-double with a 20-point and 11-rebound outing as the Keystone College men's basketball program recorded its 1,000th all time victory.

With the victory the Giants move to 8-4 overall, while St. Joseph's (NY) falls to 4-10.

The twenty-four point victory did not come easy for the Giants as both squads struggled in the first half with their shooting.  Keystone hitting 31% and St. Joseph's 25%.

The Giants made the halftime adjustment hitting nearly 60% (59.3%) from the floor and 71.4% from the free throw line to put up 49 points in the second twenty minutes.  

Kelly hit on 8-11 from the field en route to his game high, as he also added four steals and three assists.  He was one of four Giants in double digits with Ryne Luce (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) adding 13 and Malcolm Boone (Sugar Loaf, NY/Warwick) and Spencer Lunger (Lake Winola, PA/Tunkhannock) each chipping in with 10.  Boone also added seven boards, while Luce dished out four assists.

Jon Matzelle led the way for the Bears with a 16 point afternoon.  

The milestone victory gives the Keystone men's program a mark of 1,000-626.  

The Giants will return to action on Monday when they welcome CSAC foe Cabrini College to campus for an 8pm tip.
