Gators topple Giants

Baltimore, MD (1-17-09) - College of Notre Dame exploded for 89 points in a 89-64 victory over Keystone in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

College of Notre Dame moves to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the CSAC, while Keystone falls to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. 

The Gators shot 51.4% from the field for the game, including a season best 50% (8-of-16) effort from beyond the arc. The 51.4% field goal percentage marks the best shooting performance by the Gators in seven years.

The Gators trailed the Giants as late as 10:43 remaining in the first half when Ellen Fallon hit one of her three three-point baskets of the game. Notre Dame rallied and broke the game open with a 26-11 run to close out the first half.

Notre Dame's India Scott registered a double-double with a 13 point, ten rebound effort.  Ronda Shelly also recorded a double-double, her third of the season, contributing 19 points while grabbing ten rebounds. 

Kendra Baldwin added 17 points, five boards and five assists while Gloria Broady chipped in with 11 points.  Briana Grap  also had 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting and a 3-for-4 effort from beyond the arc.

Keystone was led by Ellen Fallon and Jessica Kobesky, both of whom scored 23 points in the losing effort. Kobesky also had ten rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Kobesky moved into third place on the Giants all-time scoring list and now has 1,119 points in her career.

Melinda Moore added 10 points.  Sarah Barretto dished out a team high four assists.

Notre Dame forced 23 Keystone turnovers while committing a season-low 16 turnovers. The Gators scored 31 of their points off turnovers. Notre Dame out rebounded Keystone by a 43-37 margin.

Keystone will return to action on Monday January 19 at 6pm when they play host to Cabrini.
