Turnovers prove costly in loss to Cabrini

La Plume, PA (1-19-09) – Brittany McLeod netted a game high 17 points, as the CSAC'S top ranked defense held Keystone to 13 points below their season average, as Cabrini downed the Giants 68-54 in women's basketball action.

 

With the victory the Cavaliers remained perfect in the CSAC at 5-0, while also moving to 10-3 overall.  The Giants dropped their second straight to fall to 7-6 and 2-3.

 

Neither team started with any consistency as both squads struggled from the floor for the most of the half.  However Cabrini seemed to get things on track in the final minutes to close on an 11-3 run for a nine point lead at the break.

 

The Cavaliers started the second half much the same way they ended the first, as they extended their lead to 14 less than fie minutes in.  They would build the lead to as much as 18.

 

Alyssa Brady added 12 points as 1 different Cabrini players found the scoring column. 

 

Ellen Fallon led the Giants with 16 points, including a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.  Danielle Burke and Melinda Moore each chipped in 11. The trio of Moore, Fallon and Jessica Kobesky each recorded seven rebounds each.  Fallon also dished out four of the team's 11 assists.

 

The Cavaliers benefited from the Giants inability to handle the ball, as Cabrini scored 26 points off of 23 Keystone turnovers. 

 

Keystone will return to action on Thursday January 22 at 7pm when they welcome Cedar Crest College to campus.
