Yarrish's goal sinks Knights; Giants clinch top spot in CSAC playoffs

Scranton, PA (10-21-09) - Kellina Yarrish (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale)'s second half goal accounted for all the offense in a key CSAC field hockey match, as Keystone College downed Neumann University 1-0.

The victory also clinched the top seed for the Giants in the upcoming CSAC playoffs.  

Keystone, which won its ninth straight match, moves to 12-2 overall and 7-0 in the conference, while Neumann falls to 6-7, 5-2.  The 12 wins is a program record for the Giants.

After a scoreless first half, Yarrish converted the match's lone score at the 55:07 mark.  Samantha Morgan (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) and Nicole Macedonio (Factoryville, PA/Lackawanna Trail) assisted on the goal.

Keystone keeper Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) recorded three saves in the cage, as the Giants held a 10-9 advantage in shots.

The Giants will return to action on Saturday at 11am when they travel to Rosemont College to close out their regular season CSAC schedule.  

Keystone will wrap up regular season play on October 29 at Scranton.  The team will host a semi-final playoff game on Wednesday November 4 at Riverfront Sports in Scranton.
