Benedix leads a trio in double digits as Giants top PBU

La Plume, PA (12-3-09) - Tim Benedix (Mission Viejo, CA/Capistrano Valley) poured in a game high 18 points to lead three Keystone players in double figures as the Giants downed Philadelphia Biblical University 74-54 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest.

With the victory, Keystone's third straight, the Giants improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the CSAC, while Philadelphia Biblical falls to 2-3 and 0-2.

Benedix hit four times from beyond the arch as the Giants scored 27 points via the three-point shot.  Benedix shot 54% from the floor as Keystone managed to hit on 41.3% of their shots.

Kenneth Hardnett (Plant City, FL/Plant City) notched his second consecutive double-double with a 17 rebound and 14 point effort.  Hardnett also tallied team highs in steals with six and assists with four.

Spencer Lunger (Lake Winola, PA/Tunkhannock) rounded out Keystone's double digit performers with a 13-point night.

The Crimson Eagles led only once in the game at 10-8 just seven minutes in before Keystone's athleticism began to take over.  After taking a nine point lead into the locker room at the half, the Giants exploded for 43 second half points en route to the 20-point victory.

Mark Musumeci (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) had a season high seven rebounds, while Troy Robinson (Detroit, MI/Lincoln Park) had six.  Lunger and Musumeci also had four assists each.

Ben Fuller led the Crimson Eagles with 17 points, while Jared Fulton added ten.

Keystone held a distinct edge on the boards at 49-23, but once again they struggled from the stripe hitting on just three of 14 attempts.

The Giants will return to action on Saturday when they play host to Marywood University at 3pm.
