La Plume, PA (12-3-09) – An
Ellen Fallon (Scranton, PA/Scranton) steal and
Sarah Barreto (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) layup with 13 seconds left to play lifted Keystone College to a 58-55 victory over Philadelphia Biblical in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action.
Keystone picked up its first win of the year to move to 1-3, 1-0, while Philadelphia Biblical falls to 2-4, 0-2.
The back and forth affair was tied at 54 with 57 seconds left to play when Barreto nailed a jumper to give the Giants a two point lead. A Crimson Eagle free throw cut the lead to one with 40 seconds to play setting up the heroics by Fallon and Barreto.
Fallon led the Giants with a 20 point effort, one of three Keystone players in double digits. Barreto added 14, while
Theresa Yazurlo (White Plains, NY/Bishop Hannan) chipped in with 10.
Keystone dominated on the boards, holding a 41-22 edge over the Crimson Eagles.
Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) cleaned the glass for 12 rebounds, while
Yasmeen Bates (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) had her fourth straight game with double digit rebounds with 10.
Fallon recorded four steals and Moore three assists to lead the Giants in those categories.
Dani Norton poured in a game high 28 points to pace PBU, including hitting on five three-pointers. Norton also grabbed a team high seven rebounds. Sarah Oessenich dished out a game high nine assists.
Keystone will return to action on Saturday at 1pm when they play host to Marywood University in a CSAC northern division contest.
