Giants blow by Cyclones; advance to CSAC semis

La Plume, PA (2-21-09) - Tercel Taylor (Jackson, MI/Jackson) poured in a game high 19 points and the duo of Malcom Boone and Kenneth Hardnett (Plant City, FL/Plant City) combined to pull in 28 rebounds, as the Keystone College men's basketball team advanced to the CSAC semi-finals with a 69-56 victory over Centenary College.

Keystone will travel to Cabrini College for a Tuesday evening semi-final against the Cavaliers.  Game time is 7pm.

Taylor converted on seven of 13 shots from the field, including hitting on a pair of three's, to pace the Giants on the offensive side of the ball.

However, it was the duo of Boone and Hardnett who were able to offset the performance of Centenary big man Andrew Baker with their play around the glass.  While the duo combined to score 13 points, Boone's 15 rebounds and Hardnett's 13 provided a solid majority of the Giants' 42 on the day.

Ryne Luce (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) came off of the bench to net 14 points, 12 of which came via the three-ball, while Michael Kelly (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) added 10 points, including a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe.

Kelly dished out a game high six assists, while Channing Woodall (Plant City, FL/Plant City) added five.  Taylor and Hardnett each recorded three steals.

Will Atkinson led the way for Centenary with 16 points, while Baker added 15 points to go along with his game high 17 rebounds .  Ryan Kearney chipped in with 10 points.

Centenary held their last lead of the game at 5-4 with under 15 minutes to play in the first half, before the Giants put together a methodical 29-16 stretch to take a 12-point advantage into the half.

Keystone would build a lead as large as 19-points in the second half, allowing Centenary only to close to within 10 the remainder of the way.

The Giants will head into the Tuesday's semi-final having split their season series with Cabrini.  The Cavaliers took the contest on December 1 on their home floor by a 75-72 score, while Keystone recorded the 70-60 victory at home on January 19.
