Cyclones rain down threes to down Giants

Hackettstown, NJ (2-7-09) - Centenary College connected for 13 three-point shots and for the second consecutive game Keystone College could take advantage of a halftime lead as the Giants fell to the Cyclones, 84-77

With the win Centenary moves to 10-10 overall and 5-6 in the CSAC, while Keystone falls to 13-7 and 7-5 in the CSAC.

Keystone clung to a two point lead at the break, but for the second consecutive game they could not make it hold up.  The Giants hit for six three-pointers in the opening half, but struggled by converting only four in the second half, as they finished the game 10-28 from the three-point range

The Giants did have success pressuring the ball as they forced the Cyclones into 25 turnovers, however for as strong as they were on the defensive end, the Giants struggled from the free throw line hitting on only 13 of 25 attempts.

Will Atkinson had the hot hand for the Cyclones as he netted a game high 30 points to lead five players in double figures.  Atkinson hit eight shots from beyond the arch on nine attempts.

Ryan Kearney added 16, while Andrew Baker recorded a double-double with a 15-point and 14-rebound game.  Rob Urie added 11 with Corey Kearney chipping in with 10.

Spencer Lunger (Lake Winola, PA/Tunkhannock) converted six from downtown to lead the Giants with 22 points.  Malcolm Boone (Sugar Loaf, NY/Warwick) netted 18 points, while Kenneth Hardnett (Plant City, FL/Plant City) added 11.

Boone and Hardnett each pulled in eight rebounds for the Giants, who finished with 32.  Lunger recorded a team high three steals.

Keystone will return to action on Tuesday February 10 at 8pm when they play host to Philadelphia Biblical University.
