La Plume, PA (3-21-09) - The Keystone College baseball team scored 29 runs on 25 hits, as the Giants took both ends of a doubleheader with Baptist Bible College, 16-0 and 13-0.
With the sweep the Giants move to 12-3 on the year, while Baptist Bible falls to 2-4.
When you add in Friday's game between the two teams, the Giants outscored the Defenders 49-0 in the three game series.
In Saturday's opener Brad Higgins worked four innings of one hit ball to pick up the win. Higgins struck out five and walked only one batter.
Eric Groff and Donald Reese were the big hitters for the Giants with each picking up three hits, as well as each recording a double. Jayson Rohena and Josh Hinkle, who each doubled, and Esteban Meletiche all added two hits.
Hinkle drove in five to pace the Giants, while Rohena drove in two. Hinkle knocked in both runs for Keystone in the fourth and then added two more as part of a six run fifth inning.
In the nightcap Brett Repard overpowered the BBC hitters with a one hit and six strikeout performance to move to 3-0 on the year.
Groff once again carried a big stick for the Giants as he turned in a 3-3 effort at the plate, which included his team leading fifth home run of the season. The Giants pushed across runs in every inning but the fourth.
Hinkle and Jimmy Ferraro each were two-time hitters, while Rohena and Hinkle drove in two runs each. Rohena's four RBI's on the day raised his team leading total to 21.
Keystone will return to action on Sunday March 22 at 1pm when they travel to Kean University.
