Giants run win streak to 14 straight

La Plume, PA (4-14-09) - The Keystone College baseball team ran its season best win streak to 14 games as the Giants downed Marywood University 7-2 in CSAC action.

With the victory the Giants, who are ranked 13th in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll and 19th in the d3baseball.com poll, improved to 26-4 overall and 9-0 in the CSAC, while Marywood falls to 6-16 and 0-6.

Keystone, which has won 17 of its last 18, completed a three game sweep of the Pacers after taking a twin bill on Monday.

Mike Hanley improved to 6-0 on the season as the junior lefty worked six innings of five hit ball and did not allow a run.  Hanley lowered his team leading ERA to 1.53.

Ray Jackson led the Giants with three hits, while also picking up an RBI.  Eric Groff doubled as part of a two hit game, while Donald Reese added a pair hits to go with three runs batted in.  Esteban Meletiche also knocked out two hits for Keystone.

Mike Castellano was the only Pacer with a multi hit game.  Tim Freda tossed a complete game for Marywood in suffering the loss. Freda allowed three earned runs on eleven hits.

Keystone struck first with a run in the second when Ben Fish scored on a Reese sacrifice fly.  The Giants would push across four in the fourth, as a Reese single would plate Gross and Fish for the first two runs of the inning.  The Giants would add two more on a Pacer throwing error.

The Pacers plated single runs in the seventh and eight, as pinch runner Jason Lane scored on a passed ball in the seventh and Matt Newcomb came across in the eight when Jason Bugno was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The Giants closed out the scoring with two in the bottom half of the eight.

Keystone will return to action on Friday when they play host to Gwynedd-Mercy at 3pm.
