La Plume, PA (4-14-09) - Marywood University took both ends of its CSAC softball doubleheader with Keystone College, 6-1 and 14-4.
With the sweep the Pacers moved to 18-7 overall and 11-3, while Keystone falls to 8-18 and 6-8.
In the opener the Giants managed only three hits with
Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) driving in the their lone run.
Kaitlyn Brennan carried the hot bat for Marywood, collecting two hits, including a home run as she drove in three and scored twice. Ashley Dommes picked up two hits and an RBI for the Pacers. Nikki Belles earned the complete game victory, striking out four and walking just one batter.
In the nightcap Marywood took advantage of four Keystone errors and 10 base-on-balls by Keystone relievers to pick up the win.
The Pacers only tallied six hits in the nightcap, with Dommes belting a home run and driving in two. Erika Cook and Kim Flanagan each doubled as six different players recorded hits. Kim Lope, Brennan and Janessa Bednash each drove in a pair.
Mallory Gable struck out five in earning the complete game win.
Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) was three-time hitter for the Giants, while
Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) added a pair. Trudgeon and
Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) each picked up an RBI for the Giants.
Keystone will return to action on Friday when they travel to Rosemont College for a 3pm doubleheader.
