Johnson sparks Giants to sweep over BBC

La Plume, PA (4-2-09) - Sabrina Johnson turned in a career day by collecting seven hits, while also scoring five times as Keystone College took both ends of its doubleheader with Baptist Bible College, 7-0 and 9-3.

With the sweep the Giants moved to 5-11 overall and 4-4 in the CSAC, while Baptist Bible fell to 9-13 and 3-7.

Johnson jump started the Keystone offense for the third straight game, as she collected a triple and double during her 7-8 performance from the plate.  The fleet-footed freshman also stole home for the second time in the last three games

Johnson's seven hit day helped raise her average from .238 to .340.

In the opener Keystone hurler Meagan Cunningham (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) allowed just three hits and struck out three in recording the win.  She also collected an RBI to help her cause.

Johnson led the Giants with three hits in game one with two runs scored and RBI.  Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) and Kim Kwitoski (Montrose, PA/Montrose) each doubled with Kwitoski adding an RBI.

In the nightcap the Giants picked up right where they left in game one by pushing across four runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Keystone's big blast of the game came in the second inning when Megan Thomas (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) deposited a pitch deep over the left-center-field fence, extending the lead at the time to 7-0.

Johnson collected four hits in the nightcap, while also scoring three times.  Trudgeon, Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack), Leah Simko (South Gibson, PA/Mountain View) and Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) all added RBI singles in the game.

Cunningham once again earned the victory, allowing just one earned run and striking out four.

Stephanie Kreiser and Jessica Kuhnle each knocked out two hits in game two for BBC.

Keystone will return to action on Tuesday April 7 at 4pm when they travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a double dip.
