Meletiche leads 17-hit attack as Giants turn back Pioneers

La Plume, PA (4-7-09) - Esteban Meletiche collected five of Keystone's 17 hits as the Giants captured their 10th straight victory with a 13-8 win over William Paterson University.

With the victory Keystone moves to 22-4 overall while William Paterson evens its mark at 12-12.

Meletiche's big day helped raise his season average from .390 at the start of the game to .420 following play.  The sleek fielding shortstop also drove in two and scored twice,

Donald Reese, Jayson Rohena and Ben Fish all collected three RBI's each with Reese picking up his sixth home run of the year, while Fish knocked out his ninth double of the season.  Eric Groff scored three times for the Giants, while Kyle Conrad and Reese each scored twice.

Mike Hanley worked six innings allowing one earned run on six hits to move to 5-0 on the year.

Keystone made an impact early pushing across three runs in the first, as a bases loaded walk by Fish, an RBI single by Reese and fielders choice RBI by Rohena staked the Giants to a lead they would not give up.

After a Pioneer run in the second, the Giants would add one in the third and two in the fourth to push the advantage to 6-1.  A five run sixth was highlighted by Meletiche's two run single as Keystone built an 11-2 lead.  

William Paterson would push across six runs in the eight, with the big blast coming in the form of a Frank Franco home run, as the Pioneers strung together five hits with a Keystone error in an attempt to make a game out of it.

Conrad's two run single in the eight help the Giants regain as cushion en route to the win.

Keystone will return to action on Wednesday when they host Moravian at 4pm in a non-conference game.
