Warriors sweep Giants in non-conference action

Williamsport, PA (4-8-09) - Lycoming College used a no-hitter by Shauna Starr in game two to complete a doubleheader sweep of Keystone, 8-6 and 11-0.

With the sweep Lycoming moves to 10-16 overall, while the Giants fall to 5-13.

Game one was a back and forth affair between the Warriors and Giants.  After Lycoming took a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning, Keystone roared back with a four run second inning.  Kim Kwitoski (Montrose, PA/Montrose) drove in Meagan Cunningham (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) with a one out double to put the Giants back on top.  Sabrina Johnson followed with a double of her own to knock in Kwitoski, while Johnson rounded out the scoring, coming across on a Butzer ground out.

The lead was short lived as Lycoming put up a four spot of their own in the third to take a 5-4 lead.  Keystone knotted things up one final time in the fourth when Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) singled and came around to score on a passed ball.  Lycoming would retake control for good with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Keystone closed out the scoring with a Kelly Iovieno (New York, NY/Professional Performing Arts) home run in the sixth.  Cunningham absorbed the loss tossing a complete game and striking out three.

Game two was all Lycoming as the Warriors scored in each of th first three innings, including a six run first.  Lycoming scored six times on only two hits in the opening inning, taking advantage of six walks and a hit batsman.

A walk to Butzer provided the Giants with their only base runner of the game.

Keystone will return to action on Thursday April 9 at 3pm when they travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a CSAC double dip.
