Reading, PA (9-1-09) - The Keystone College volleyball team enjoyed a successful return to competition as the Giants downed Alvernia University 3-1 in non-conference action.

The match marked the return of volleyball at Keystone after a five year hiatus.

Alvernia got on the board first by taking the opening set 25-20.  However, it was Keystone who came roaring back by taking set two by a 25-17 count.  The Giants took the third set by a 25-21 margin, before finishing things off with a 25-12 fourth set.

Kendra Bianchi (Montague, NJ/Port Jervis) led the Giants with eight kills, while Heather Rieman (Honesdale, PA/Hancock Central) added four.  Chrissy Bushicio, Katie Scheuch (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) and Tara Diesel (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) all recorded two aces each.

Keystone will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Battlefield Classic in Gettysburg.
