Boirand, Ehrhardt lift Giants to first victory

La Plume, PA (9-14-09) - Alex Boirand (Shanklin, Isle of Wight England/Sandown) and Ryan Ehrhardt (Lafayette, NJ/Pope John XXIII) each netted two goals, as the Keystone College men's soccer team notched its first victory of the season, 4-1 over Penn State Hazleton in a non-conference match.

The victory moves the Giants to 1-4, while Penn State Hazleton evens its mark at 2-2.

The Giants wasted little time in getting on the board, scoring just 3:18 into the match.  Keystone's Scott Bensinger (Hegins, PA/Tri-Valley) was fouled in the box while on a break-a-way, resulting in a penalty kick for the Giants.  Boirand converted the PK to put Keystone up 1-0.

Penn State Hazleton knotted things up at one at 14:21 when Jesse Shadle scored off a free kick.

Ehrhardt put Keystone back up to stay at 32:08, scoring the unassisted goal.  Boirand closed out the first half scoring at 40:05 off a corner kick from Patrick Hulede (Odenton, MD/Mount Saint Joseph).

Ehrhardt punctuated the Keystone victory with just over three minutes left in the game, scoring off a Boirand assist.

Ryan Gilroy (Dallas, PA/Dallas) recorded three saves in net for Keystone, as the Giants held a 24-5 edge in shots.

The Giants return to action on Wednesday at 4pm when they play host to Lycoming College in a non-conference match.
