Knights use second half surge to topple Giants

Aston, PA (1-11-10) - Neumann University used a 49-point second half to break a halftime tie as the Knights topped Keystone College 78-63 in CSAC women's basketball action.

With the victory Neumann moves to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while Keystone falls to 3-7 and 1-2.

Neumann jumped out quickly building a nine point lead with 7:54 left in the opening half, but the Giants stormed back finishing the first half on a 14-5 run to cap the comeback and eventually taking a two point lead.  The teams headed into the locker room knotted at 29.

Keystone held leads of three points on two different occasions in the second half, their last coming at 13:27 when Yasmeen Bates (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) converted a pair from the line.  However, the Knights put together a 20-6 run over the next six minutes to distance themselves from the Giants en route to the win.

Ellen Fallon (Scranton, PA/Scranton) attempted 25 shots on the night on her way to a game high 29 points.  Her offensive tally included five three-pointers.  Fallon finished off her second consecutive double-double with 11 rebounds.

Sarah Barreto (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) added nine points and Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) eight for the Giants.  Bates pulled in 11 rebounds, with Moore adding eight.  

Brittany Whetts led four Neumann players in double figures with 21 points.

Keystone will return to action on Thursday evening when they travel to Cabrini College for a 6pm contest.
