Immaculata, PA (1-18-10) - Immaculata University held Keystone College scoreless for the first 8:54 of the game as the Mighty Macs cruised past the Giants 68-29 in CSAC women's basketball action.
With the victory Immaculata moves to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference, while Keystone falls to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the CSAC.
The Giants drought to start the contest proved to be a pre-cursor for things to come as Keystone suffered through its worst shooting night of the year on all fronts.
The Giants, who recorded only three field goals in the opening twenty minutes of play, shot just 20.4% (10-49) from the field. That statistic was compounded by their 1-12 (8%) effort from three-point range. The team did not fare much better from the charity stripe, shooting a frigid 28.6% (8-28).
Immaculata saw 12 different players break into the scoring column, while Keystone failed to have a player in double digits for the first time this year. The Mighty Macs also recorded 14 steals while forcing 28 Keystone turnovers.
Yasmeen Bates (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) hit for a team high eight points for the Giants, while
Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich),
Sarah Barreto (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) and
Brianna Borowski (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke Area) all pulled in six rebounds each.
Bridget Welz hit for a game high 17 to pace Immaculata.
Keystone will return to action on Thursday at 6pm when they play host to Centenary College.
