Taylor, Luce, Hardnett carry offense in road win

Clarks Summit, PA (1-12-10) - The trio of Tercel Taylor (Jackson, MI/Jackson), Ryne Luce (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) and Kenneth Hardnett (Plant City, FL/Plant City) combined to score 44 points, as Keystone College took the first edition of this year's 'Backyard Brawl' with a 64-52 win over Baptist Bible.

With the victory the Giants move to 10-5 overall and 6-3 in the CSAC, while BBC falls to 2-11 and 0-7.

Taylor paved the way with a game high 17 points, with Luce hitting 16 and Hardnett 11.

Keystone came out ready to play jumping out to an 8-0 lead, thanks in part to back-to-back three-pointers from Spencer Lunger (Lake Winola, PA/Tunkhannock).  Baptist Bible responded with a 10-2 run to knot things at 10 just five minutes in.  The Giants would build a three point lead before the Defenders knotted things again at 18.

Taylor put the Giants back on top with 5:37 left in the first when he connected from beyond the arc.  A Malcolm Boone (Sugar Loaf, NY/Warwick) layup and free throw helped push the lead to four, before the teams headed into the locker room with the Giants up 24-23.

A pair of Luce three-pointers and a Boone layup built the Keystone lead to seven just minutes into the second half and eventually to 10 with 11:52 to play.  It appeared as if Keystone would pull away for good, with the Giants building a 50-35 advantage with 9:18 to play.

However, BBC tried more time to make a game out of it, using a 10-1 run to cut things to six with just over five minutes to play.  A Taylor jumper stopped the BBC rally, putting Keystone back in charge to stay.

The Giants used an impressive performance from the charity stripe in the final minutes to ice things as Taylor, Luce and Gary Robinson (Brooklyn, NY/Wyoming Seminary ) combined to go 9-10 from the stripe, as part of the Giants 79% effort for the game.

Robinson finished with seven points and Lunger six for the afternoon.  Hardnett led Keystone on the glass with seven rebounds.

The Giants turned the ball over just nine times, while forcing 17 BBC miscues.

Tommy Waszaj led BBC with 13 points.

Keystone will return to action on Monday at 8pm when they play host to Gwynedd-Mercy College.
