Yasmeen Bates (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) came up big just about every time her team needed her, as the forward netted 19 points while pulling in a career high 19 rebounds, as Keystone stormed by Baptist Bible College 73-60 in CSAC women's basketball action.
With the victory the Giants move to 4-11 overall and 2-6 in the CSAC, while BBC falls to 2-11 and 1-6.
Bates controlled the lane all afternoon for the Giants, with 12 of her rebounds coming off of the defensive glass. She was on the mark from the field, as well shooting 8-11 from the field on the afternoon.
While the Giants took control of things when it mattered, it was BBC who jumped out to the early lead, grabbing a 14-8 advantage four minutes in. The Giants fought back, using an 8-0 run, capped off by an
Ellen Fallon (Scranton, PA/Scranton) layup off a
Brianna Borowski (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke Area) assist to take a 16-14 lead.
The Defenders would knot things twice more in the opening half before the Giants used another run, this time a 10-3 streak, to take a 28-21 lead. Keystone would build the lead to 11 before going into the locker room with a 41-31 lead at the break.
Baptist Bible would not go away as they started the second half with a 16-6 run to even things up at 47. With the Defenders clinging to a 49-48 lead with 13:12 to play, the Giants benefited from a Fallon trifecta followed by a Jasmine Harris trey to go back out in front to stay.
Fallon hit for a game high 24 points to go along with five steals and four assists to pace the Giants.
Harris and
Sarah Barreto (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) each added nine points, with
Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) chipping in with eight points and six rebounds.
Joy DeLeonardis led three BBC players in double figures with 21 points.
The Giants will return to action on Monday at 6pm when they welcome Gwynedd-Mercy College to campus for a CSAC contest.
