Luce nets 16 points as Giants sweep season series from Marywood

Scranton, PA (1-28-10) - Ryne Luce (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) netted a team high 16 points as Keystone College swept the season series from Marywood University, 81-74 in CSAC men's basketball action.

Keystone, which won its fourth straight game, moves to 12-5  overall and 8-3 in the CSAC, while Marywood falls to 5-12 and 2-9.

Despite struggling from the free throw line all night, shooting just 53% (22-41), the Giants scored their last 14 points of the game from the charity stripe to hold off a late Pacer rally.

Keystone jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first half after hitting 55% of their shots from the floor and going 7 of 14 from behind the arc, as the Giants would take a 45-32 lead into the locker room.

The Giants started hot and were in control most of the night, eventually building a lead as large as 19 points in the second half.

Marywood began fouling Keystone players with just under six minutes left in regulation. The strategy paid off, as the Giants struggled down the stretch, allowing Marywood to convert at the other end to get back to within six. However, some late missed opportunities by the Pacers at the offensive end and free throws by Tercel Taylor (Jackson, MI/Jackson) with under a minute to go iced the game for the Giants

Joining Luce in double figures for the Giants was Taylor who hit for 15 points, while Malcolm Boone (Sugar Loaf, NY/Warwick) chipped in with 11.  Coltin Ferrick (Girard, PA/Girard) added eight points, while the trio of Spencer Lunger (Lake Winola, PA/Tunkhannock), Kenneth Hardnett (Plant City, FL/Plant City) and Gary Robinson (Brooklyn, NY/Wyoming Seminary ) all added seven points each.

Robinson led the Giants on the glass with nine rebounds, with Boone grabbing eight.

Matthew Medici led the Pacers with a game high 21 points.

Keystone will return to action on Saturday at 1pm when they play host to Neumann University in a CSAC contest.
