La Plume, PA (1-7-10) - The Keystone College women's basketball team had its best shooting game of the year to date, as the Giants raced out to a commanding first half lead en route a 59-43 victory over College of Saint Elizabeth in non-conference basketball action.
With the victory Keystone improves to 2-6 overall while College of Saint Elizabeth falls to 7-6.
The Giants shot nearly 50% from the field for the game, including a 56.5% effort during a 37 point opening half. During that same twenty minutes Keystone held their opponent to just five made shots from the floor.
Another bright spot for the Giants came from the free throw line, as the team shot a season best 72.6% for the game, including a stellar 83.3% in the first half.
Yasmeen Bates (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) played a solid all around performance for Keystone, leading the team with 14 points, seven rebounds and a season high five blocks in 24 minutes of action.
Ellen Fallon (Scranton, PA/Scranton) hit for an even dozen while chipping in with six rebounds and four steals.
Theresa Yazurlo (White Plains, NY/Bishop Hannan) added nine points to go with a six rebound effort, while newcomer Shalaya Neives added six rebounds.
Sarah Kozlowski netted a game high 19 points for College of Saint Elizabeth.
After a slow start for both teams, Keystone built a 15-9 lead with 10:41 remaining in the opening half, that was the closest College of Saint of Elizabeth would get the remainder of the day, as the Giants finished the half on a 22-7 tear to build a 21-point halftime lead.
Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) added eight points for Keystone, while Sarah Baretto and Neives each added seven.
The Giants will return to action on Saturday when they travel out of conference for a 4pm contest at St. Joseph's (NY) College.
