La Plume, PA (2-15-10) –
Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) and
Yasmeen Bates (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mountain West) each recorded doubles-doubles, as Keystone used a 38-point second half to stage a 56-47 comeback win over Baptist Bible College in CSAC action.
With the victory Keystone moves to 6-16 overall and 4-10 in the conference, while Baptist Bible drops to 4-17 and 1-12. The win also completes the season sweep for the Giants.
Moore finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds, with 11 of her boards coming off the defensive glass. Bates added 12 points to go with 10 rebounds.
Ellen Fallon (Scranton, PA/Scranton) chipped in with a dozen, while
Sarah Barreto (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) added 11 for Keystone. Both Fallon and Barreto each dished out three assists and pulled in four rebounds.
Laura Hodupp and Marlie Kneifel led the Defenders with 12 points each.
After taking a 3-2 lead in the opening minute of play, Keystone went frigid from the field, falling behind by 15 with under ten minutes to play in the fist half. The Giants were able to cut the lead to nine, 27-18, heading into the break.
Baptist Bible regained a double digit advantage in the second half, increasing the margin to 14, 35-21.
The Giants began to climb back into at that point, going on a 13-3 run to draw within 38-34 with 9:34 to play. Keystone would cut the lead to one, the closest they had been since the opening minute, with 4:04 to play.
A Barreto jumper with 4:04 to play gave the Giants the lead for good at 43-42, as they outscored the Defenders 13-5 down the stretch.
Keystone will return to action on Saturday at 1pm when they play host to Rosemont College in their season finale.
