Tara Diesel (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage)'s single to center field with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning of game two capped off a four run Keystone rally as the Giants salvaged a split with Penn State Hazleton by taking the nightcap by a 5-4 score.
Penn State Hazleton shut down the Keystone offense in game one, holding the Giants to just three hits in an 8-0 affair.
With the split Keystone moves to 3-6-1 on the year, while Penn State Hazleton goes to 2-6.
Trailing by four entering the bottom of the seventh, the Giants reeled off six hits as part of the winning rally.
Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) led off the Keystone seventh with a walk, but was forced out on a fielder's choice by
Kelly Iovieno (New York, NY/Professional Performing Arts).
Loryn Hass followed with a single to center and moved to third when
Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) doubled to right, as Iovieno came around to score. Haas would come around to score when
Carissa Iyoob (Jessup, PA/Valley View) reached via an infield single to make it a 4-3 game.
Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) would keep the rally going with another infield single to knot things up when Butzer scored.
Diesel, who also picked up the victory for the Giants, lined a single to center for the game winner. Diesel allowed two earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out three.
Haas, Iyoob and Hartman were all two time hitters for Keystone in game two.
In the opener singles by Haas, Iyoob and Cohen was the only offense Keystone could muster. Megan Cunningham absorbed the loss allowing five earned and striking out two.
Keystone returns to action on Tuesday at 3pm when they play host to King's College.
