La Plume, PA (3-27-10) - Ricky Espinosa and Edwin Padua each drove in three runs, as the Giants overcame an early deficit and then held off Gwynedd-Mercy College 12-10 in the second game of a CSAC doubleheader.
The Griffins survived a late Keystone rally in the opener to hold off the Giants 5-4.
With the split the Giants move to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the CSAC, while Gwynedd-Mercy goes to 10-6 and 4-1.
After falling behind 1-0 in the nightcap, Padua picked up a two out single to draw the Giants even. After watching the Griffins go back on top in the third at 2-1, the Giants used a five run third inning and then matched that total again in the fourth with another five runs to take an 11-4 lead at the time.
The Griffins would plate four in the fifth and a pair in the in the seventh, but could not overcome the Keystone advantage.
Espinosa and Padua each picked up two hits, with Roberto Santana and Esteban Meletiche adding a pair of hits each. Santana and Meletiche each added doubles to their line. Yazy Arbello picked up his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot as part of the five run fourth.
Mike Hanley picked up the victory, allowing three earned runs and striking out three. Victor Lara earned the save.
In the opener the Giants could never overcome the Gwynedd-Mercy advantage, as the Griffins held the lead throughout, turning back a near Giants comeback in the seventh when Keystone pushed across two.
Eric Groff picked up his team leading seventh home run as part of a two hit game, while also driving in two. Padua also added a pair of hits with an RBI.
The Giants and Griffins will close out their three-game series tomorrow at Gwynedd-Mercy with a nine inning game starting at noon.
