La Plume, PA (3-27-10) - Keystone College pushed across 47 runs on 42 hits, as the Giants took both ends of its softball doubleheader with Rosemont College by scores of 24-2 and 23-1.
With the sweep Keystone moves to 5-8-1 overall and 2-0 in the CSAC, while Rosemont falls to 0-6 and 0-4.
In the opener Keystone scored in every inning in which they came to the plate, including exploding for a 12-run second inning.
Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) led the offensive onslaught with a five hit game, as the Giants knocked out 26 hits in the game, Marino also drove in two and scored twice.
Carissa Iyoob (Jessup, PA/Valley View) collected four hits while driving in four and scoring three times. Iyoob was also the winning pitcher, scattering four hits over five innings and striking out nine.
Samantha Hartman (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) drove in six runs on four hits, as Keystone banged out seven doubles in the game.
Loryn Haas (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore),
Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor),
Kelly Iovieno (New York, NY/Professional Performing Arts),
Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) and
Meagan Cunningham (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) all recorded a two hit game.
Game two was almost a mirror image of the opener as Keystone plated 19 runs in the second inning en route to the victory.
Cohen and Hartman provided the big blasts for the Giants as each picked up home runs. Cohen drove in four and scored three, while picking up four hits. Hartman and Iovieno each drove in three.
Haas picked up four RBI as part of a two hit game. Iyoob and Cunningham also recorded two hit games.
Jessica Weingart (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery ) notched the win, allowing three hits and one earned run, while striking out seven.
Keystone will return to action on Sunday at noon when they travel to Marywood University for a CSAC doubleheader.
