Softball records second day split while earning first win

Surfside Beach, SC (3-8-10) - Keystone College exploded for seven runs over the first two innings as the Giants banged out 16 hits in picking up their first victory of the year, 10-3 over Penn State Berks.

Earlier the day the Giants managed just two hits in falling to La Roche College 9-0.  Monday's split moves Keystone's mark to 1-2 on the year.

Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) collected three doubles and drove in four against Penn State Berks, while Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) also knocked out three hits, including a double.  Carissa Iyoob (Jessup, PA/Valley View) drove in three on a triple as part of a two hit game.

Loryn Haas (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore), Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) and Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) all collected two hits for the Giants.  Haas, Butzer and Iyoob also scored a pair of runs each.  

Meagan Cunningham (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) worked five innings to earn the victory.  Cunningham allowed three runs on five hits while striking out two.

In the day's first game, Sam Hartman accounted for all of the Keystone offense with two hits, including a double.  Iyoob suffered the loss in working three innings.
