Iyoob helps carries Giants to split with Crimson Eagles

Langhorne, PA (4-1-10) - Carissa Iyoob (Jessup, PA/Valley View) knocked out four hits while driving in five in game two of Keystone's doubleheader with Philadelphia Biblical University, as the Giants salvaged a split with an 11-1 victory.

In the opener PBU pushed across a one out run in the bottom of the seventh to take game one 4-3.

With the split Keystone moves to 7-10-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Iyoob was joined by Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) in the hit parade as the duo combined for seven of their team's 14 hits in the nightcap.

Loryn Haas (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) chipped in with two hits and a pair of RBI'S while also scoring three times.  

The Giants scored single runs in the first and third innings, as Iyoob used a run scoring single in the first to knock in a run and then scored herslef in the third on a bases loaded walk for a 2-0 lead.  The Giants built the lead to 4-0 in the fourth when Iyoob and Haas each drove in a run with singles.

In the fifth the Giants exploded for seven runs to put the game out of reach.  The  big blast was a bases clearing double by Iyoob.  Haas, Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) and Kelly Iovieno (New York, NY/Professional Performing Arts) all added run scoring hits.

Meagan Cunningham (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) allowed one run on seven hits to earn the win.

In the opener Keystone managed just two hits, as Cohen recorded a home run and Tara Diesel (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) added a double, both of which were part of a two run fifth that helped knot the score at 3-3.

After a one out single in the bottom of the seventh, which was followed by a pair of walks, PBU plated the winning score on a sacrifice fly for the 4-3 win.

Keystone will return to action on Tuesday when they play host to Gwynedd-Mercy at 3pm.
