Mighty Macs break out bats in CSAC twinbill

Immaculata, PA (4-17-10) - Immaculata University collected 29 hits en route to a doubleheader sweep of Keystone in CSAC softball action, 10-2 and 11-3.

The Mighty Macs improved to 10-11, while Keystone, which has lost nine of its last 10 games, fell to 10-19-1 overall and 6-10 in the conference.

In the opener, after two scoreless innings to open the game, Immaculata scored in each of the next three innings invoking the mercy run rule with two outs in the fifth.

Keystone collected six singles in the game, each by a different player.  Samantha Hartman (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) drove in Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) as part a two run fifth inning to account for the lone RBI.  Hartmand scored the other Keystone run in the game.

In the nightcap the Mighty Macs wasted little time in distancing themselves, plating five runs in the first, as Immaculata scored in each inning they came to the plate before the game was halted.

Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) picked up two of the team's hits with a home run and a double.  The freshman shortstop also scored one and knocked in two.  Hartman added a single for a two hit day.  Kendra Bianchi (Montague, NJ/Port Jervis) collected the other RBI.

The Giants return to action on Wednesday at 3pm when they play host to Lycoming College.
