La Plume, PA (4-24-10) - The Keystone College softball team continued its slide dropping both games of the double header against Cabrini College by scores of 2-1 in 8 innings in the opener and 5-2 in the night cap.
With the sweep Cabrini moves to 19-13, 13-3 in the CSAC while Keystone falls to 10-23-1, and 6-12 in conference play.
In the first game Cabrini edged out a close one in extra innings beating Keystone 2-1. Megan Cunningham had a sparkling effort on the mound going the full eight innings, allowing only 2 runs while striking out two.
Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) had 2 hits and an RBI for the Giants.
The Giants picked up their lone run in the 2nd inning when
Samantha Hartman (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) singled to left,
Kendra Bianchi (Montague, NJ/Port Jervis) advanced Hartman to second with a sacrifice bunt and Marino drove her in with an RBI double to center.
The Cavaliers tied the game in the top of the 6th with an RBI single from Chrissy Squillace. Cabrini took the lead for good with an RBI single from Liz Zimmer in the top of the 8th.
In the night cap the Giants were held to two runs on five hits.
Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) and Lori Marino each had an RBI with Marino picking up a single.
Carissa Iyoob (Jessup, PA/Valley View),
Kendra Bianchi (Montague, NJ/Port Jervis), and Loryn Hass had singles for the Giants to while
Samantha Hartman (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) added a double for Keystone.
Cabrini got the scoring started with two runs in the 3rd inning and three runs in the top of the 6th. Marcelle Crist earned the win for the Cavaliers pitching six shutout innings.
The Giants return to action next Friday when they host Cedar Crest College at 3pm in their home finale.
