Haas, Diesel keep Giants rolling in the CSAC

La Plume, PA (4-6-10) - Loryn Haas (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) collected four hits on the afternoon, while Tara Diesel (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) picked up victories in both ends of the doubleheader as Keystone kept rolling along in conference play with a sweep of Gwynedd-Mercy College, 9-1 and 4-2.

The sweep moves Keystone to 9-10-1 overall and 6-2 in the CSAC, while Gwynedd-Mercy falls to 2-15 and 2-6.

In the opener Haas knocked out three hits while scoring once as Keystone also took full advantage of three Griffins errors that resulted in seven unearned runs.

Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) added two safeties for the Giants, while Samantha Hartman (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) recorded the team's lone extra base hit with a double.

Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor), Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom), Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) and Diesel all drove in a run.

On the mound, Diesel worked five innings, striking out four.

In the nightcap Keystone managed just four hits, but they made everyone count.  Hartman and Diesel each went deep, with Hartman hitting a solo shot in the second and Diesel a two run blast as part of a three run fourth inning.

Cohen and Haas each picked up doubles as the only other hits for the Giants.

Diesel once again earned the victory, working five innings of shut out ball in relief.  She struck out three while allowing three hits.

The Giants will return to action on Friday when they travel to Baptist Bible College for a doubleheader beginning at 3pm.
