Clarks Summit, PA (4-9-10) - Baptist Bible College used a late game comeback in game two, as the Defenders swept both ends of the doubleheader with Keystone, 3-1 and 9-8.
With the sweep BBC moves to 9-9 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while Keystone falls to 9-12-1 and 6-4 in the CSAC.
In the opener BBC scored twice in the opening inning to take a quick lead.
The game would not see another run until the fourth inning when Keystone got on the board with a run in the top of the inning, however BBC responded with one in the bottom of the inning to extend things to 3-1.
Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) and
Samantha Hartman (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) each picked up doubles as part of Keystone's five hit effort.
In the nightcap it was the Giants that got off to a good start. The Giants scored 4 runs in the top of the first to put the pressure on the Lady Defenders. Keystone continued to add to their lead after a couple fielding errors by Baptist Bible.
Going into the bottom of the seventh Keystone held a 7-3 lead. After closing the gap to just two runs with two outs Marlie Kneifel hit a two run home run to force extra innings.
In the eight the Giants would again take the lead at 8-7 when Cohen scored as part of a double steal .
Baptist Bible responded once again in the bottom half of the inning with a two run double to take the victory.
Hartman,
Loryn Haas (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) and
Lori-Ann Marino (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) accounted for six of the team's seven hits for the Giants. Haas tripled, while Marino drove in two.
The Giants return to action on Saturday at 1pm when they play host to Neumann University.
