Bel Air, MD (5-1-10) - The Keystone College softball team wrapped up its 2010 slate with a conference split at College of Notre Dame (MD). The Giants took the opener in dominating fashion, winning 15-1, before falling in the nightcap 12-7.
The Giants end their season with a mark of 13-24-1, 9-13, while Notre Dame moves to 6-21 and 5-17.
In the opener the Giants scored in every inning but the fourth, as Keystone knocked out 18 hits.
Samantha Hartman (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) had the big blast, connecting on a home run, while
Loryn Haas (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) and
Katie Butzer (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) added triples.
Jessica Weingart (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery ) picked up three hits and scored three times, while
Kendra Bianchi (Montague, NJ/Port Jervis) was also a three time hitter. Haas, Meaghan Cunningham,
Heather Trudgeon (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) and
Abby Cohen (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) all added a pair of hits in the contest.
Trudgeon added three RBI, with Cunningham and Haas knocking in a pair each. Cunningham also picked up the victory, allowing one run and striking out three.
In the nightcap, after Keystone jumped out with a four run top of the first, the Gators responded with five in the bottom of the inning and three more in the second to take control. In addition to collecting 13 hits in the game, the Gators also took advantage of six Keystone errors.
Cohen led Keystone's 10 hit attack with three of her own, including a triple. Weingart added a double as part of a two hit game.
