Baseball looking to battle back

12:33 - First & seocnd nobody out for the Pride, Frost gets the out at third on attemtped sacrifice and Fargas to Arello for a pick off.  However, a slow roller between the mound and first scored another with two out, 7-3 Pride

12:24 - Vega strikes out looking ending the Keystone threat, 6-3 Widener

12:22 - Fargas draws a bases loaded walk, 6-3

12:19 - Two outs, bases loaded for Angel Fargas, this could be the make or break time for the Giants

12:13 - First two menreach base, 1st and 2nd no outs

12: 06 - Frost works out of trouble.  Two innings left to get it done, still down 6-2

11:54 - Leicht out trying to stretch a single into a double, Giants still trial 6-2

11:49 - Frost strikes out the side.  It's getting late early for the Giants, the offense needs to get clicking with just three innings left

11:42 - Jeff Frost now in relief for Keystone

11:40 - Giants waste a one-out single by Groff, after 5 1/2 Keystone trails 6-2

11:30 - Pride score two with two outs to build a 6-2 lead.  Widener still batting as Hanley departs for Brad Higgins

11:15 - Giants manufacture a run in the fifth, Reese double to left, sacrificed to third by Leicht and scores on a Jackson SF, down 4-2

11:11 - Nice play on a foul bunt by Smyth and two fly balls get the Giants out of it, 4-1 Pride after four.  Here's hoping the bats get going

11:06 - Widener double makes it 4-1, Giants need to clamp things down

11:04 - Leadoff double and error puts Pride leadoff man on third

11:00 - Double play ball fells Giants again as Padua hits into the 6-4-3 twin killing

10:54 - A two-out runner does no damage, thanks in part to a diving stop by  Vega at short, 3-1 Price after three.  Giants have not had a hit since Groff's first inning home run

10:46 - Back-to-back errors on the Pride do no damage as Groff hits into a DP, Giants trail 3-1 heading to the bottom of the third

10:36 - Leadoff walk comes back to hurt as Price knot things at one with a two-out single to left.  Pride another with a single to right, to take the lead, passed ball moves score to 3-1

10:25 - Giants down in order with three fly balls, by the way Groff's homer gives him 18 on the season, breaking the record of Nelson Gomez who was drafted out of Keystone by the Arizona Diamondbacks

10:20 - Hanley strikes out two in setting the side down in order, the lefty looks good

10:13 - Heading to the bottom of the first, 1-0 Giants

10:09 - Groff goes yard with an opposite field shot, Eric becomes the single season home run leader at Keystone

9:44 - First pitch scheduled for 10am, team very loose this morning, they have nothing to lose right now and lots to gain, which makes them a dangerous team to play.  Mike Hanley getting the starting nod.  Beautiful day here in Trenton, lots of sunshine and warm temps


Trenton, NJ (5-21-10) - After falling to Johns Hopkins University yesterday, the nation's top team, the Keystone College baseball team will be looking to rebound this morning in an elimination game against Widener University.

The Pride of Widener, the third seed in the Regional, lost their opening round game to Rowan University 11-5, then fought off elimination by sending home Manhattanville College, 9-2. The winner of this morning's game will advance to play the winner of the Kean/Alvernia game tonight at 7:45pm, while the loser will have suffered two losses, thus ending their season.
