King's takes field hockey opener

Wilkes-Barre, PA (9-1-10) - Four different players recorded goals as King's College downed Keystone 4-0 in non-conference field hockey action.

The match was the season opener for both squads.

The Monarchs, who held a 23-2 advantage in shots, strung together three second half goals en route to the win.  

Jackie Sikora got things started at 16:41 off an assist from Jenera Quinones on a cross from the left side.  Quinones netted her own goal to start the second half at 37:58 off a Calli Berryman assist.

Berryman converted a goal of her own less than four minutes later taking the pass from Danielle Terracciano.  Stefanie Wingerter closed out the scoring, converting a penalty kick at 64:06.

Melinda Moore (Norwich, NY/Norwich) recorded nine saves for the Giants.

The Giants return to action on Friday at 6pm when they play host to Vassar College.  That match will be played at Riverfront Sports in Scranton.
