Volleyball sends Bears into hibernation

Union, NJ (9-10-10) - The Keystone College volleyball team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over St. Joseph's (NY) College at the Kean University tournament.

The Giants took the straight set win by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-15.

Keystone fell to Kean in their opening match of the two-day event, 3-0.  The Giants battled tough against their host falling 25-22, 25-21, 25-21.

In their match with the Bears Jessie Short (Clinton, CT/The Morgan School) led the Giants with 26 digs, while Maggie Emmons (West Grove, PA/Avon Grove) added six.  Leah Simko (South Gibson, PA/Mountain View) picked up 17 of the team's 21 assists, with Emmons also leading the way with six kills.

In their opener Simko handed out 20 assists, while Emmons once again was in double figures in digs with 13.  Danielle Cedeno (Newark, DE/Christiana) had a team high seven kills.

Keystone returns to action on Saturday with matches at 11am and 3pm in day two competition at Kean.
