Volleyball sweep moves win streak to six straight

Jamaica,  NY (9-17-10) - The Keystone College volleyball team ran its program best win streak to six straight as the Giants swept a pair of matches in New York.

In the evening's first match the Giants downed York (NY) College 3-1 and then capped off the night with a 3-0 victory over City Tech.

Keystone moved its season mark to 6-4 on the season.

Although the Giants final score against York was 3-1, technically Keystone has taken their last six matches by 3-0 counts.  The Giants were forced to forfeit the first set after traffic delays caused the team to arrive late.

However, the Giants responded against York, by taking the next three games played, 25-8, 25-23, 25-14.  The loss dropped York to 3-4.

Kendra Bianchi (Montague, NJ/Port Jervis) recorded 10 digs, while Roseann Rutledge (Old Forge, PA/Old Forge) and Daniele Cedeno each added seven kills.  Leah Simko (South Gibson, PA/Mountain View) tallied 17 assists.  

In the nightcap against City Tech, the Giants again took the match with ease, 25-12, 25-16, 25-12.  Simko had another big match with 20 assists, while Cedeno added eight kills.

The team returns to play on Saturday with a tri-match at St. Joseph's (NY).
