Fayetteville, NC (3-10-11) - The Keystone College baseball team opened its 2011 campaign with a 9-1 loss at Methodist University.
The contest marked the first time this season that the Giants were able to get outside, while the Monarchs marked their 19th game outdoors, moving to 13-6 on the year.
Edwin Padua and Andy Vega each recorded up a pair of hits as part of the team's seven hits. Esteban Meletiche picked up the lone Keystone RBI.
The Giants utilized seven pitchers in the game, allowing many members of the staff to get their first work of the season.
Keystone will continue its journey to Florida today and resume play tomorrow in Winter Haven, FL. The Giants will take on King's (PA) College beginning at 9am in doubleheader action.
