Union, NJ (3-20-11) - Over the past few years Keystone College and Kean University have played some exciting games on the baseball diamond, but following each contest the result was the same, a Kean victory.
Sunday was no different as the Cougars overcame a 4-1 deficit to take a 6-4 non-conference victory over Keystone College. The victory moves Kean's all-time mark against the Giants to 12-0.
The Cougars move to 12-3 on the season, while the Giants, who suffered their tird hstraight loss, falls to 5-6.
Roberto Santana and Andrew Siano each picked up a pair of hits, as the Giants collected seven on the day.
The Giants and Cougars exchanged runs in the second. Andy Vega put the Giants up 1-0 in the top of the inning after Edwin Padua was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Cougars knotted things in the bottom of the inning, pushing across a run on a throwing error.
Keystone would use a three-run third to take a 4-1 lead on the Cougars. Santana scored the inning's first run, coming around on a Brian Henry base hit. The Giants scored twice more, with Henry scoring a Kean throwing error and Siano coming around following a failed pick-off play.
Kean would knot things at four in the bottom half of the fourth before taking the lead for good with a run in the sixth. The Cougars would add an insurance run in the eight.
Brad Higgins suffered his first loss of the season, falling to 2-1. Higgins worked six innings allowing four earned runs on six hits, while striking out five.
The Giants will finally return home on Thursday for their home opener after their season opening 11-game swing, as Rutgers-Newark pays a visit for a 3pm single game.
