Giants finish off sweep of Griffins

Gwynedd Valley, PA (4-10-11) - Esteban Meletiche knocked out five hits and Brian Henry picked up four hits on the afternoon as Keystone College took both ends of its doubleheader with Gwynedd-Mercy 6-4 and 15-0.

The Giants, who swept the three-game set with the Griffins, move to 14-8 overall and 7-1 in the conference, while the Griffins fall to 6-11-1 and 3-3.

In the opener the Giants knocked out 10 hits in support of winning pitcher Blaine O'Brien.  O'Brien worked five and a third innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, while striking out seven. 

The Giants set the tone of the day early, pushing across two runs in the opening inning.

Meletiche doubled twice as part of a three hit game, while Andy Vega went deep as part of his two-hit game.  Vega also drove in a pair and scored a run.  Henry added two hits and an RBI.

Derek Alex picked up the save in pitching an inning and two-thirds of shut ball.

The nightcap was more of the same for the Giants, a barrage of hits and strong pitching.  Keystone also took advantage of seven errors by the Griffins.

Rob Rogers tossed six innings of shutout ball, allowing one hit and striking out eight in picking up his second win of the week.

Henry homered as part of his two hit game as also drove in three and scored twice.  Meletiche doubled while adding another pair of hits and scoring twice.

Andrew Siano added two hits, including a home run, while knocking in three and scoring three times.  Gabe Torres was also a two time hitter.  Chris Gheraldi drove in three in a pinch hit roll.

Keystone will return to action on Tuesday when travel to Montclair State for a 3:30pm non-conference contest.
