Red Dragons clip Giants, 3-2

La Plume, PA (4-17-11) - Oneonta State University made three early runs stand up, as the Red Dragons slipped by Keystone College 3-2 in non-conference baseball action.

With the victory Oneonta moves to 18-8 overall, while Keystone falls to 17-9.

The Red Dragons pushed across a single run in the second and two more in the third and made them hold up as the Giants tried to chip away at the lead.

Oneonta's first run came via the long ball when Mike Mascari homered to right in the second.  They extended the lead to 3-0 the following inning when they strung together RBI singles by Jonathan Wolfanger and Mascari.

The Giants attempted to inch back into things with a run in the fourth on a Gabe Torres RBI ground out.  They would add another in the fifth on an Esteban Meletiche home run to left.

Both pitching staffs clamped down after that, with neither team able to push across another run.

Jeffrey Carter worked five innings to pick up the win for the Red Dragons.  Carter allowed two runs on six whits while striking out four.  Chris Tyson worked the ninth, striking out two, in picking up the save.

Rob Rogers went six and a third in defeat for the Giants.  Rogers allowed one earned run on eight hits while also striking out eight.

Brian Henry and Ricky Espinosa each picked up two hits for the Giants, with Espinosa including a double in the mix.

Keystone will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to York (PA) for a 3:30pm game.
