La Plume, PA (4-26-11) - Mike Assmann allowed just one run, while scattering nine hits in working a complete game as 11th ranked Cortland State downed Keystone College 6-1 in non-conference baseball action.
With the victory the Red Dragons move to 27-6, while the Giants fall to 20-10.
Assmann held the Keystone offense in check allowing just a second inning run to the Giants. The senior hurler struck out just one batter, but also walked just one.
Jeff Frost worked six innings, allowing three runs in absorbing the loss.
Gabe Torres' second inning single scored Andy Vega to account for the Keystone offense. Esteban Meletiche, Andrew Siano and Vega each picked up two hits as the Giants knocked out nine on the afternoon.
Cortland banged out 15 hits, with Chris Jackson and Dan Kaplan picking up three hits each. Jackson also drove in three, while Kaplan and John Adornetto each drove in each.
The red Dragons struck first by pushing across three in the top of the first. The Giants cut into the lead in the second. The teams then played scoreless ball until the eight when Cortland managed to push across some insurance runs.
The Giants will return to action on Friday when they return to conference play with a single game at Immaculata at 3pm. The Giants and Mighty Macs will also meet on Saturday in a noon doubleheader at Keystone.
