O'Brien's no-hitter highlights day on the diamond

Ft. Pierce, FL (3-10-12) - After taking a 13-inning affair in North Carolina on Friday afternoon, a travel weary Keystone College baseball team kicked off a week's worth of games in Florida on Saturday with a bang.

Senior hurler Blaine O'Brien took the Giants on his back in the first game of the day, as O'Brien shut down Penn State Behrend by tossing a no-hitter.

In game two on Saturday, the 14th ranked Giants downed 20th ranked Alvernia 5-2.  The sweep moves Keystone to 4-1 on the season.

The no-hitter was the first for Keystone since 2005 when Jeremy Pierson completed the fete.

O'Brien struck out 11 and walked three in keeping Behrend off balance to notch the victory.

Miquel Castano knocked out a pair of hits with an RBI, while Brian Del Rosso added a hit and a RBI in the winning effort.

In game two against Alvernia, it was a strong pitching performance once again that carried the Giants.  Rob Rogers worked six innings of scoreless baseball to earn the win.  Rogers struck out seven while scattering six hits.  Adam Krebs worked the final three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out six.

Frank Mormino led the offense with a 3-4 game, adding and RBI, while Esteban Meletiche went 2-4 with a RBI.  Josh Paradoa and Chris Muniz each added a hit and a RBI.

Keystone return to action on Sunday in the Sunshine state with a 9am double dip against Richard Stockton.
